Its ancestry is complex, but it is distantly related to the crab-apple Malus floribunda, from which it inherits genes which confer good resistance to apple scab. Ripens in early October. Very attractive crimson red blushed fruits. Medium-sized, extremely crisp creamy-white flesh, with tart, very good, rich flavor. Midseason harvest, with fruits storing for 6 mont hs. Spreading, well-branched trees are immune to scab and moderately resistant to leaf rust. Low-maintenance trees are well-adapted for home gardens.
