Zestar is a cold hardy variety of apple with good crunch a tart-sweet balance, and notes of brown sugar. The fruits ripen early and do best when pollinated with other early blooming varieties. This apple also has good storage life. It can maintain its crisp texture for two months in the refrigerator, making it versatile for fresh eating and baking. Since this apple was developed by the University of Minnesota in 1999, it is one of our more cold hardy apple varieties because it can withstand harsh northern winters.
