Ilex opaca, commonly called American holly, is an upright, pyramidal, native evergreen tree that slowly matures to 15-30′ in cultivation. The Greenleaf cultivar delivers all the benefits of the original in a more compact form for smaller landscapes. It does not set berries. This is an ideal candidate for hedges or screening. Plant in full sun, ideally with partial shade in the summer afternoons.
