Description
Spigelia marilandica
This native flower can be found in shaded woodlands as well as along the woodland’s edge and is a great addition to any perennial garden. Due to it not competing well with other plants, it is considered a NC threatened species. Caring for these plants in our home gardens can assist in protecting them. These flowers attract hummingbirds and can bloom multiple times a season by removing spent blooms. The plant can reach just over 2 ft with flowers 2″ in size.
