Pinus thunbergiana is a beautiful ornamental pine, great in Japanese and cottage style gardens and for screening. It is resistant to deer damage and reaches 20 – 50’ in height and 12-20′ in width. It has a flat-topped pyramidal form with no prominent central leader. As it ages, it appears irregular and asymmetrical in shape. It has a shrubby habit and curved trunk. The needles are dark green and the cones are brownish-gray giving it a unique look.
